Ellis Bird Farm
Ellis Bird Farm is located 8 km east (on Highway 12) and 8 km south (Prentiss Road/RR 26-0) of Lacombe. The farm is on the west side of the road, across from the MEGlobal petrochemical facility.
If you are coming from Edmonton, take the QE2 to the Highway 12 East turnoff at Lacombe. Go through the town of Lacombe, then continue east on Highway 12 for another 8 km. Turn south on Prentiss Road ( RR 26-0) for 8 km.There are two options if you are coming from the south:
- Go north on the QE 2 or on Highway 2a to the Blackfalds turn-off. Go east on Highway #597 for 15 km, then north on Prentiss Road (RR 26-0) for 4 km.
- Go east of Red Deer on Highway 11. Turn north on Freedom Road (stay on the pavement, as it swings back to the west before going north), then west on Highway #597 and then north on Prentiss Road (RR 26-0) for 4 km. (Note: this route takes you through Red Deer, so it is quicker to follow route #1, even from the south).
