Workplace Essential Skills Training
Essential Skills are the skills needed for work, learning, and life. They provide the foundation for learning all other skills. Academic Express has been delivering Workplace Essential Skills Training to employers in Central Alberta since 2010 and at Community Adult Learning Centers in rural Alberta starting in January 2019. Training is provided in the following areas: Numeracy: Basic math skills- taking measurement, basic budgeting Reading: Understanding material written in sentences and paragraphs Document Use: Using graphs, charts, reading labels Writing: Basic writing skills- filling out forms, writing a resume Working with Others: Being a team player, networking to get a job Communication Skills: Resolving conflict, being assertive, improving interview skills Problem-Solving: Managing change, decision-making, problem-solving Computer Use: Setting up a work-friendly email address, social media, online job-search Continuous Learning: Continuing to improve skills and knowledge Next Class Starts on: January 15, 2019 to March 14, 2019 To Register, all potential participants must complete a TOWES Assessment.
